How’s it going today?
I’m glad you’re here.
I am honored each time you come back to the golden salon
to have another think, and to do some more building.
I hope you had a chance to read last week’s post:
What does it take to become a lovable woman?
In that post, I put forward eight statements.
I said that when these statements have become true of you,
you will have become lovable.
Here they are again:
The eight statements
I know who I am.
I am my own best friend.
My spirit is tender and strong.
I respect myself.
I take good care of myself and look my best.
My education and work make me proud.
I am a builder and uniter of my community, country and world.
I love responsibly.
As I told you, these are challenging statements,
but they are possible for every woman.
I said I would offer you some thoughts in my next post on how you can begin to
And here we are!
One step toward each statement
How about I give you ONE step you can take toward making each
statement become true of you.
One simple step you can do TODAY.
Yes, each statement will take many more steps to make it become
But this will give you a taste of victory!
Are you with me?
Let’s DO this!
The march of the pawns
When I was a little girl around 6 or 7 years old, I thought playing
checkers was boring.
So, my Daddy taught me to play chess.
I am grateful to him, because it gave me a strategic mind.
I think strategically about everything!
Always thinking way down the road.
I remember one particular strategy my Daddy taught me.
He told me it was called “The March of the Pawns!”
WOW, I thought. That sounds powerful.
He explained to me that the march was unstoppable.
And he showed me how to do it.
Just move my little pawns…one at a time…
in a steady advance across the board…
and I could beat the more powerful pieces!!!
The march of the pawns—in LIFE
I don’t think I ever fully learned how to pull it off on a chess board,
but O my—I definitely learned how to do it in life.
That’s how I built my own foundation,
which is the foundation of the golden salon.
One move at a time, on several levels at once, always advancing.
So, let’s apply this strategy to becoming a lovable woman.
Let’s think of it that you’ve got eight pawns.
One for each statement that you need to become true of you.
And you are going to move your eight pawns—one step at a time–
in a steady advance to reach your goal of becoming a lovable woman.
Unstoppable, I tell you.
The march begins
Here are eight moves you can make today:
- I know who I am.
Declare the quality that is most important to you to have.
For me, it is courage. What is it for you?
- I am my own best friend.
Declare an aspect of yourself that you like,
that you believe contributes to making you a good friend.
- My spirit is tender and strong.
Remember an animal you loved dearly and treated tenderly.
- I respect myself.
Recall promises or commitments you have made that you have kept.
- I take good care of myself and look my best.
Go find the dress that makes you look your best, and put it on!
- My education and work make me proud.
Choose a book you know will build you. Decide to read it.
- I am a builder and uniter of my community, country and world.
Find a local paper online, and see what constructive events are going
on in your neighborhood.
- I love responsibly.
Name a woman you look up to, who you would say loves responsibly.
That’s it. Eight opening moves of The March of the Pawns.
Each one looks modest.
Just a little pawn, moving slowly across the board.
Ah, yes. Very modest, except for the fact they don’t stop. 🙂
Of course there are many more moves to be made.
You already know what some of them are.
One move leads to another.
You will reach your goal.
That’s what the golden salon is for.
That’s why I’m here.
Never underestimate the power of a woman inspired.
How did it feel to launch your very own March of the Pawns?
I can’t wait to hear!
